Poppy Falling in Love is a romantic blend of single, but mostly bi-colored, semi and fully double blooms in intoxicating shades of pink, red, rose, coral and white. 3" inch cupped blossoms float effortlessly on top of 15" to 18" inch graceful, wiry stems. They appear to dance in the breeze and are truly magical when planted in mass.
The red poppy in this mix, adopted by the American Legion after World War One as the commemorative flower for all fallen soldiers, is worn on November 11th, Remembrance Day. Made popular by the famed poem “In Flanders Field”, this red beauty is sometimes called a Flanders Poppy. At the end of WWI, there actually were fields of this Mediterranean wildflower, which grew even in the desolate aftermath of battles, but dramatic changes in plant life have now diminished their growth.
Falling in Love Poppies now intentionally grace gardens all around the world and are noted for their exceptional watercolor floral effect. Long stems help make these a favorite cut flower, even despite their short vase life. Deadheading and cutting blooms will bring on additional flowers and prolong the blooming season.
Easy to grow from seed, this variety loves a sunny location with well-drained soil and freely self-sows. Packet: approx. 250 seeds.
