Panicum miliaceum violaceum, also known as Purple Millet, produces an abundance of seeded panicles that look like elegant draped tassels of tiny, deep green and purple jewels. This ornamental grass is one of our favorites! Vertical grass clumps with rich green, narrow blades grow 24" to 36" inches and produce an abundance of sturdy purple-flushed stems that resemble miniature broomcorn sprays. So much so, sometimes this variety is referred to as Broomcorn Purple Millet. Stems can be harvested as soon as they appear and at every stage of spray maturity. This high demand cut flower filler green has an excellent vase life of over a week and is used both fresh and dried. Drought tolerant and easy to grow. Excellent for cutting gardens, garden landscapes and large container plantings. Packet: 100 seeds.
