Globe Thistle Star Frost, botanically known as Echinops bannaticus, is an exceptional first year flowering perennial that produces eye-catching, golf ball size silvery-white spiky globes that are a fantastic addition where textural interest is desired in your garden. The neutral shade of the globes allows the vertical and architectural beauty to be truly appreciated as they contrast with brighter colored plantings. A cut flower staple in constant demand for their use fresh or as an everlasting ingredient. Dramatic 40" inch plants appear to have a prickly habit, however the leaves are actually soft to the touch and have a downy under bottom. Echinops is a long loved species dating back to 1629. An excellent pollinator attractant, hardy to zone 3 and once established, Star Frost is drought resistant. Globe Thistle should be divided every 3 to 4 years, in early spring. Packet: 25 seeds.
