Comfrey Symphytum officinale is commonly used in herbal healing. This medicinal perennial plant grows 36" to 48" inches tall and produces long, slender lance-shaped leaves and sprays of tubular bell shaped flowers that start out violet and turn white as they mature from late spring until early fall. Native to Europe, this variety grows true from seed, prefers full sun or partial shade and blends well into cutting garden beds. Turnip-type roots grow deeply into the soil and once established this plant can be difficult to relocate. If you have reservations on the location, start off in a deep pot as a container plant. Notably drought tolerant and an excellent pollinator attractant. Easy to grow and to ensure success be mindful that this seed requires a minimum of 30 days cold stratification in order to germinate properly. Will self sow freely once established. Packet: 25 seeds.
