Asparagus

Asparagus is a perennial vegetable garden delicacy and becomes a favorite once established. Mature plants take approximately three seasons to bear a deep harvest. Smaller plants can withstand light harvesting in season two. Grow asparagus from seed by starting your seeds 6 to 8 weeks before your last spring frost, in a sunny location, in compost rich, well-drained soil. Asparagus spears are best harvested in the petite size in order for the spears to be tender and delicious when steamed, grilled or baked. The larger the spears, the tougher the outer vegetative casing is to cut through. Redemption's asparagus seed is bred for quality, taste, texture and resistance to rust disease.
