Dahlia

Dahlias are a sight to behold in any garden, with their large blooms in various shapes, sizes and saturated colors. Grow dahlias from seed to experience the garden surprise of Mother Nature's gift! The colors of the flowers will be determined by the friendly pollinators who do the work of pollen distribution which, in turn, creates the color mix that comes from seed grown dahlias. Dahlias are a versatile plant that can compliment an array of garden settings from planting beds to containers. Literally dahlias are workhorse plants that pump out the flower blooms. In fact, Dahlias are considered, "cut & come again" which means the more you cut them, the more flowers they produce. Growing dahlias from seed is a great alternative to the expense of tubers. Typically, given adequate sun, water and fertile soil conditions, dahlias have an exceptional blooming period from mid-summer to fall when, alas, the first frost will claim them. Dahlias are native to Mexico and thrive in full sun with well-drained soil.
