Salvia coccinea Summer Jewel Mix, commonly known as Hummingbird Sage, is a universal favorite no matter your garden style! It is a wildly popular pollinator attractant, especially for its namesake, the hummingbird! Expect a fluttering and buzzing display of garden friends to visit the vertical spike type flowers that feature stacked, whorling blossoms with protruding pointed edges atop sturdy, densely branched stems of dark green, fuzzy foliage that bloom from early spring all the way through autumn in a cheerful mix of lavender, red, white and coral.

Plants grow 18" to 20" inches tall and make stellar border plantings, color bed plantings and also grow well in containers. Suitable for woodland gardens and meadow plantings, Summer Jewel grows in part shade or full sun and tolerates moist soil as long as it is well drained. This unbeatable flowering plant thrives in almost all conditions, is exceptionally long blooming and is heat, humidity and drought tolerant once roots are established. Hardy in zones 7-10, however, it is grown as an annual in all other zones.

Well loved as a cut flower, this variety makes an excellent addition of textural vertical interest in bouquets and arrangements. The Summer Jewel series has won several All-American Selection awards and remains one of the most popular color bedding plants in our offerings. An excellent choice for both nursery stock growers and cut flower producers. Packet: 50 seeds.
