Pennisetum setaceum rueppellii, commonly known as Brown Eared Grass, is a perennial (zones 8-10), ornamental fountain grass. Attractive, rosy-pink, fuzzy plumes grow on strong, sturdy stems that hover above well mounded arching blades of foliage. Plants grow to 36" inches tall and are a wonderful textural accent to any landscape planting. Plants begin blooming mid-summer and persist through fall frost. The blooms are a well sought after cut flower production crop and can be used fresh or as an everlasting ingredient. This variety prefers a sunny location, however it does tolerate partial shade. Plants will freely self seed if the spent blooms are left to stand in the fall. Once established this plant is almost maintenance free. Grows as an annual in zone 7 and below. Packet: 25 seeds.
