Nasturtium Milkmaid is the most subtle of all the Nasturtium colors featuring petaled trumpet flowers in a soft cream color. Notably deer resistant, this trailing variety makes a wonderful addition to hanging baskets, window sill boxes and patio container plantings as it has a sweet pleasing aroma. Beloved since its introduction in the early 1880's, this long loved garden charmer was a favorite in the Victorian era and remains equally popular today for its soft, neutral, cream to pale yellow coloring. Your garden will stay abuzz as friendly pollinators love Milkmaid, especially zippy hummingbirds who will visit often to feed on the nectar. In the garden, they attract beneficial insects and can be used in vegetable gardening to trap aphids and deter white flies, protecting crops such as tomatoes, cucurbits, and brassicas. This tender flowering annual will grow in full sun to partial shade and can be trellised or grown as a ground cover. Plants grow 16" inches tall and trail 2' to 3' feet. Nasturtiums are an edible flower and make a lovely addition to salads, drinks and are frequently used as decorative garnishes on fancy dessert plates and cakes. The leaves are also edible and have a mild peppery flavor ideal for salad toppers and flavoring soups. Packet: 30 seeds.
