Echinacea purpurea Compact Prairie Splendor White, also known as Coneflower, is a highly adaptable flowering herbaceous perennial that produces delightful 4" - 5" inch white, daisy-shaped blooms with raised hairy center eyes. This 2007 Fleuroselect Gold Medal Award Winner, produces compact well formed plants with lush green ovate to broad-lanceolate foliage and abundant flower blooms in sturdy stiff stems from late spring all the way through fall. This cottage and cutting garden favorite grows 18" - 24" inches tall, self sows freely and will typically continually produce blooms without deadheading. Prairie Splendor is native to moist prairies, woodland meadows and open fields in the mid-western United States, however this variety is well adapted and thrives in almost any climate zone. Excellent as a cut flower used fresh or dried, it is hard to imagine a cutting garden without Echinacea adding to the beauty! Once fall frost turns the seed head cones black, if they are left to overwinter they will provide a welcome winter snack to goldfinches and other small birds during the cold season. Packet: 25 seeds
