Dolichos Lablab Bronze Leaf, commonly known as Hyacinth Bean is an easy to grow, annual, climbing vine that produces gorgeous bronze-green leaves, showy, sweet scented lilac purple flowers and remarkable brilliant purple bean pods. The flowers and bean pods are a favorite textural element for floral creatives to add interesting architectural components to arrangements and bouquets. The fresh beans are a food crop in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean and are safe to eat only when cooked. Farmers also use this bean as a nitrogen fixer in fallow fields to increase soil fertility.
