American Purple Top Rutabaga is a long loved open pollinated heirloom variety that produces large 4" to 6" inch round creamy-white globes with a brilliant purple top shoulder crown. This variety is sweetly flavored and has a fine grained light yellow interior flesh texture that turns bright golden-orange when fully cooked. American Purple Top comes from the heirloom Purple Top strain of rutabaga, originally heralded from early cultivation in Europe. Rutabagas develop the best flavor when harvested during cool weather, making an ideal fall crop or start transplants in early January in order to plant for an early spring crop. 90 days. Packet: 250 seeds.
